The study specifically examined the instructional methods used, the effectiveness of teaching methods employed and adequacy of the&nbsp;&nbsp; Clothing and textiles teachers in the schools in Delta state. A descriptive survey research design was adopted for the study. The population comprised all Clothing and Textile teachers and students in public secondary schools within the study area. Four local government areas comprising; Aniocha South, Ika South, Ethiope East and Ughelli North were selected, and 108 students were purposively selected.&nbsp; A structured questionnaire was used as the main instrument for data collection. Data collected were analyzed using mean and standard deviation, while the hypothesis was tested using t-test at 0.05 level of significance.&nbsp; Findings showed that lecture, demonstration, collaborative and individualized instructional methods are utilized, while inquiry, project, gamified and blended methods are not used. These influence students’ understanding, aids acquisition of skills, enhance students’ interests, improve level of skill mastery improve level of skill mastery and competency, among others, but lecture method alone limits skill acquisition. There is no enough trained clothing and textiles teachers in the schools, Also Clothing and textiles teachers are not professionally competent, while a teacher handles too many students during practical lessons. Collaborative method significantly differs in teaching clothing and textiles from lecture methods. The study concluded that practical methods are effective teaching of Clothing and textiles for skill mastery and acquisition. Three research questions and one hypothesis guided the study. Descriptive research design was adopted for the study. The population was 3,564 female academic and non-academic staff in tertiary institution and a multi-stage sampling techniques was used where three tertiary institutions were randomly selected. Then purposive sampling technique of 400 female academic and non-academic staff from three tertiary institution was used to select a sample size of 20 respondents comprising three various tertiary institutions. Data was collected with questionnaire and analyzed using mean standard deviation and test at 0.05 level of significance difference. The findings suggest that targeted educational programs and collaborations with fashion designers could enhance the visibility and desirability of African fabrics in formal wear, promoting not only local craftsmanship but also a sense of cultural pride among the youth. This study contributes to the discourse on fashion, identity, and the role of textiles in contemporary Nigerian society, offering recommendations for stakeholders to foster a more inclusive approach to clothing that celebrates African heritage. Based on the findings presented, it can be concluded that there is great acceptance of the use of African fabrics for the production of formal wears among women in Tertiary institutions. This study investigates how to optimize temperature and time to provide maximum safety and try to minimize the physicochemical and aesthetic changes in the final beverage product. This study was carried out at Delta State University, Nigeria, to assess the effect of different pasteurization temperature and time on the quality of tiger nut milk. A 3x3 factorial design was used to evaluate the milk sensory, physicochemical, nutritional and microbial properties compared with an unpasteurized milk control sample and a 14 day shelf-life trial. Two-way ANOVA and advanced statistical models validated the data and ten semi-trained panelists carried out the sensory scoring using a nine-point hedonic scale. These results indicate that the pasteurization temperature and processing time have a significant and strong effect on the physicochemical properties of tiger nut milk. With increasingly harsh processing conditions, the milk becomes more acidic as the result of chemical reactions caused by the heat and organic acids being formed. At the same time, a unique thickening effect occurs in the drink, which is reflected by a gradual increase in the viscosity, caused by the gelatinization of starch and denaturation of proteins. Thermal treatment also leads to darkening of the milk, which is indicated by the reduction of lightness values, due to the degradation of the milk pigment, in addition to the Maillard reactions and caramelisation. Both temperature and time are found to have an effect on these changes, but temperature is found to be the more important of the two factors. The study also examined the moderating effect of sex. Two research questions and two corresponding null hypotheses guided the study, tested at the 0.05 level of significance. A pretest, posttest, delayed posttest, quasi-experimental planned variation design was adopted. The population comprised 16,473 Senior Secondary II Physics students in Delta North Senatorial District, from which a sample of 345 students was drawn from six public co-educational secondary schools using simple random sampling. Data were collected using a 50-item Physics Achievement Test (PAT) developed from past West African Examinations Council (WAEC) questions, validated by three experts, and possessing a reliability coefficient of 0.72 (Kuder-Richardson Formula 21). Data were analysed using mean, standard deviation, t-test, Analysis of Variance (ANOVA). Results showed that students taught with inquiry teaching strategy recorded the highest achievement gain (31.39 points) and retention rate (94%), followed by problem-solving strategy (28.26 points; 93% retention), while the lecture method recorded the lowest achievement gain (5.26 points) and retention rate (87%). No significant difference was found between male and female students' achievement or retention scores. The study concluded that inquiry and problem-solving strategies are more effective than the lecture method in enhancing achievement and retention in Physics, regardless of students' sex, and recommended their wider adoption in secondary school Physics instruction.</p> 2026-07-22T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2026 Author(s) https://ojs.universityedu.org/index.php/ijsad/article/view/285 Assessment of Training Modes for Capacity Building of Homemakers in Plantain Processing and Utilization for Enhanced Food Security in Delta State 2026-07-22T01:03:25+00:00 Joy Emoefe Ejobee ejobeejoy@gmail.com <p>Although plantain is an important staple food in Delta state with high nutritional value, its vulnerability to perishability and its poor post-harvest handling practices are still a challenge to food security of the households. Agricultural extension can be a solution, but there is no evidence on the type of training modalities that are most effective for female homemakers, who are the main actors in domestic food processing. This study sought to fill this gap by evaluating capacity building training preferences of homemakers in processing and utilization of plantain products. Descriptive survey design was used in the study, with the target population comprising the female homemakers who trade plantain in five selected Local Government Areas (LGA) in Delta State. 384 respondents were selected through stratified random sampling and 309 questionnaires were obtained and used for this study. Mean scores, standard deviations and t-test statistics at 0.05 level of significance were employed to analyze data for preference and test for differences between the rural and urban respondents. The results indicated that homemakers are highly favorable towards modern electronic and digital training mode, with a grand mean score of 3.31 which is higher than the criterion of 2.50. The television programmes were the most popular (3.69), followed by social media platforms (3.56) and radio programmes (3.50). The results of hypothesis testing did not show any significant difference between the preferences of the rural and urban homemakers (p = 0.41) which means that there is no variance in the demand for accessible and technology driven extension delivery in both the rural and urban area.
